Typology

  1. Marriage is a typology of relationship between Christ and the Church
  2. As Ruth learns the ways of the Lord from Naomi, so does Church (gentiles) learns the ways of the Lord from Israel. Boaz is the type of Jesus
  3. Acts 20:7-8
    Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight. 8 There were many lamps in the upper room where [a]they were gathered together.
    • They came to church to break bread primarily, not to hear Paul
    • Upper room – hupperron, the same word when Peter raised Tabitha
    • Many lamps, many men of God
    • Eutychus – how church lost good fortune because they fall asleep when listening to Paul
    • Paul’s doctrine – the words of ascended Christ, gives the foundation and keys to interpret the Scriptures
