Praying In Tongues

  1. 17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” (Mark 16:17-18)
  2. New means unprecedented, never existed before.
  3. Benefit of praying in tongues
    • you pray for things that you ask God but you can not express it
    • you intercede future
    • you pray for things that you dont need to know
    • you pray for situation we dont know how to pray
  4. Romans 8:26-27 “26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession [a]for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27 Now He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He makes intercession for the saints according to the will of God.”
    • Weaknesses – in Greek means infirmities , same word used for bodily and mental sicknesses

  5. 1 Cor 14:1 4 He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.
    • edify in Greek is oiko domio which means build house
    • Interpretation : build entire person, not only spirit
    • Praying in tongues restores body and mind cells
  6. Praying in tongues release rivers of living water, You will be built. And only people who are built can build others
  7. 1st Pentacost was at Mount sinai, God gave Laws. 2nd was at mount zion, God have Spirit
  8. As the Laws to the Israelites, so does the Spirit to the believers. The laws was to keep, the Spirit is to follow. The Spirit is exactly like Jesus. I’d rather follow the Spirit than keep impersonal laws. The HS has replaced the laws because He is superior to the Laws
  9. There is someone who can pray perfectly who is HS. The HS will not condemn you but help you because He loves you and He remembers why Jesus died, it is for you
  10. We receive salvation because Jesus is crucified, we receive the Spirit because Jesus is glorified. The HS is gift, not reward. HS does not indwell people who are perfect
  11. Every other offering to God, has to be unleaven bread. Only for the feast of Pentecost, priests offer 2 leaven bread : Jews and Gentiles – church is leven, God accept us with our non sense.
  12. Nothing worthy of your mind but the word of God. We dont know how we should pray, but the HS does
  13. groanings which can not be uttered = can not be spoken or explained in known language
  14. Bema sit during Paul’s time is to give reward, not punishment
  15. I am cleaner than Elijah, John because of the blood of Jesus. HS was ON them, we have the HS IN us.
  16. If you stop praying in tongues, the HS can not help you. Also help means : HS together with you
  17. HS will search the plan of God for his life, HS know where you fall sort and what is the blockage and HS will bring you back and open the blockage
  18. We experience what we pray for in the past
  19. Hosea 14:2 (AMP)
    Take with you words and return to the Lord. Say to Him, Take away all our iniquity; accept what is good and receive us graciously; so will we render [our thanks] as bullocks [to be sacrificed] and pay the confession of our lips.
    We will render the calves of our lips. Calves – young bull
    Burn offering – worship offerings. We bring sacrifices of thanksgiving, praising
  20. Led by Spirit : above the walk of defeat, flesh but to wholeness, victory
  21. If you worry, pray in tongues, it melt away.
  22. If the HS pray for us it will be always answered. HS = parachelete – alongside – type of help that lawyer gives. He is legal counselor. Righteousness – you have the right, you dont have to earn. We dont know how to fight for our case, to present our case to heaven court. HS helps us.
  23. 1 Sam 7:7-10 “And Samuel took a suckling lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to the Lord. Then Samuel cried out to the Lord for Israel, and the Lord answered him. 10 Now as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel. But the Lord thundered with a loud thunder upon the Philistines that day, and so confused them that they were overcome before Israel.”
  24. Oiko domio also means repair
  25. Then : keep the laws in your mouth. New covenant : keep the Spirit in your mouth (Josh 1:8)
  26. You dont need to “work before God” to gain blessings. Speaking in tongues is not working and it is opposite to the Laws
  27. Lev 23:21 talks about holy day – day of no work – day of rest
  28. Paul quotes Isaiah 28:11-12 when he taught about tongues. Tongues is the rest and refreshing
  29. Rest – manukah. Manukah water = still water. Because you dont believe, you will not enter My Manukah (rest)
  30. Heb 4:11 says labor to enter rest (manuka) — by praying in tongues
  31. Fruits of praying in tongues : you say right words ,you do things that you dont imagine before, you are possessed by the Spirit
  32. Speaking in tongues is the sword of Spirit. HS is the rhema of God
  33. EW Kenyon : when a person get born again, it can be proven in his blood because ancestral pass through the blood
  34. Cloven tongues = kosher
  35. Exodus 32:25-28 3000 people died by the sword of Levi. On the day of Pentecost, 3K people saved by the new sword, the Spirit
  36. The sword of Spirit which is the rhema word of God by means praying always in the Spirit
