Joseph was the beloved son of his Father, so Jesus is the beloved Son of God the Father.
Joseph was rejected by his own brothers. Jesus was also rejected by His Jewish brothers.
He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. (John 1:11)
Joseph was sold for 20 shekels of silver to the Ishmaelites because of jealousy.
Jesus was sold for 30 pieces of silver to the chief priests for the same reason.
Joseph, the one whom his brothers rejected as their own, became the bread of life in Egypt.
The one whom Jews rejected as Messiah, Jesus becomes the bread of life to Gentiles.
Israel is still blind but more and more are getting saved.
Joseph did not forget his brothers, so Jesus does not forget His Jewish brothers.
Joseph’s father, Israel, thought that Joseph was dead and did not know that Joseph was alive and exalted in Egypt. In the same way, some Jews still thought until today that Jesus is dead. They are still blind that Jesus is alive today and has been exalted
At first coming to Egypt, Joseph’s brother did not recognize Joseph as their brother. Joseph wept.
At His first coming to Israel, Jesus was not recognized by His Jewish brothers. Jesus wept because of Israel’s rejection. This is also the reason why Jesus has not been coming back yet because God is still dealing with Israel.
Joseph tested his brothers when he saw them first time in Egypt saying “You’re spies” (Gen 42:9) but his brother said “We re honest” after what they did to Joseph. They were acting like they were innocent.
This is also the picture of many people when they are confronted that they are sinners and need a Savior, they refuse by their own righteousness and claim that they are good people and don’t need Savior. The fact that we broke all the laws of God, especially in our minds. Christ is no use to them because they don’t value Him. Only sick people can value a doctor. Before God can show you His heart, He needs to reveal your heart. Until we know the severity of sins, we never value the greatness of His grace. Come to Him just as you are, no need to pretend in His presence because He knows everything about you and still loves you.
At second coming, Joseph revealed himself “I am your brother, Joseph”
At the second coming, Jesus, the heavenly Joseph will reveal himself to Israel and they will be saved.
Joseph married a gentile bride. She helped him forget the suffering and rejection of his brothers. Joseph found comfort in her.
This is the picture of the church, who are predominantly non-jews. The Church brings comfort and delight to Jesus as His bride.
All Egypt should bow the knee at the name of Joseph. (Gen 41:43). Pharaoh named him Zzaphnath-paaneah which means Savior of the World / Revealer of secrets.
At the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Phillipians 2:10). And Jesus is called Christ, the Savior of the World
Amen
