- 1 Cor 14:4 says “He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself.”
- “Edifies” in Latin ethymology consists of
- Aedes : building
- Ficare / fis : construct, repair or build
- “Edifies” in Greek is “Oikodomio”
- Oikos = house
- Domio = build
- 1 Cor 6:19-20 “19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.”
- You body (soma) is the temple of the Holy Spirit. Temple of HS does not refer to phyche = soul or pneuma = spirit
- Temple means the sanctuary which is the holy place of God. God wants His temple holy, healthy, whole, complete
- When you pray in tongues, your spirit is praying. Edify himself = all parts of us, entire self, not only spirit.
- Disease – dis ease, breaking down, no more in health zone.
- You can not build others if you do not build yourself
- 1 Cor 14:21 quotes Isaiah 28:11, that tongues is the rest (menuchah) and the refreshing (magiah). God said this is R&R = rest and refreshing. Like it is said in Isaiah, yet they would not hear, it still happen today that some people reject the message of tongues
- Labor to enter into His rest.
- By praying in tongues, God will deal inside first: fears, panic, depression and stress
